The writer uses the evidence and assumptions to support his/her analysis of the text. An analytical essay of a book, text, or topic will usually begin with a summary of the original material. The analytical essay is a kind of research in which the author reviews a topic, text, or book, analyzing it and expressing his feelings about the reading. The main purpose of this kind of work is to read the material and analyze it, giving your ideas as to its argument. Analytical essay can be very helpful when there is a need of full material understanding. The object of investigation can be anything, for example a literary work, a person, piece of art, an event, etc.

There are no strict rules of writing analytical essay, but still there are some guidelines that the author should keep in mind while writing it. After choosing an object of his investigation, he should take a piece of it and examine every single part of it very thoroughly, observing it in historical context, discovering its message.

As most essays consist of three parts, analytical essay is not an exception. An analytical essay should have introduction, the body and conclusion.

The introduction should have thesis statement and the whole further work should be built around it. There also can be an abstract, if it is required. It should contain only key information about the discussed and evaluated object. The thesis statement should sound like a claim, or an answer to the abstract information. An introduction should be not less than eight sentences long and have direction sentence which explains how the thesis will be supported and developed in the main part of the essay. The author should remember that thesis statement should not just restate the topic, but give a reply on it.

The body of an analytical essay is a very important part as here the author states his facts and evidence. There is a certain structure of the body that should be followed:

- Firstly, there should be given the main idea or the topic sentence that informs the reader what the paragraph is about;

- Secondly, the author should give about four-five supporting points;

- Thirdly, a concluding sentence should be at the end of the body, finishing a discussion on the chosen topic.

An analytical essay should be finished with conclusion paragraph which restates the author's thesis statement. It should restate the thesis, but should be written in some other words than in introduction. Also, the conclusion should summarize all facts, ideas and evidences that were stated in the body of the essay.
